Hitachi Disk Arrays Monitoring: Planned Features

November 25, 2010
  • Status: Ongoing development
  • Expected release date: January 2011

Sentry Software's development team is currently developing a new solution for monitoring Hitachi disk arrays.

Key Benefits

  • Collects storage performance and metrics to keep total control of your SAN environment
  • Identify performance bottlenecks (physical disks, controllers, fiber links, etc.)
  • Manages and helps rationalize disk space consumption
  • Detects oversubscription situations (thin provisioning)
  • Pinpoints unused disk capacity
  • Analyzes overall traffic and in-depth I/Os, etc.

In-depth and consolidated capacity metrics on critical Hitachi storage components

  • Available and Subscribed Capacity: Total space available in a specific array.
  • Host Visible Capacity: Size of a volume as seen by the server.
  • Consumed Capacity:  Sum of the space actually allocated and the space guaranteed in the storage pool for a volume.
  • Consumed Capacity Percent: Percentage of the host visible capacity that is actually consumed in the storage pool for a volume.
  • Subscribed Capacity and Subscribed Capacity Percentage: Respectively the total host visible capacity of a LUN in the storage pool and percentage of the storage pool that is subscribed.
  • Consumed Capacity and Consumed Capacity Percentage: Respectively the total size of the space actually allocated or reserved for a LUNs in the storage pool and age of the storage pool that is actually allocated or reserved for a LUN.
