  • Are we missing alerts with Blackout KM for PATROL ?
    • First, when you set up a blackout, you do not have to completely disable the monitoring of a server. You can pause the monitoring of only the parameters that you know trigger an alert for every backup.
    • Second, once the blackout is over, the suspended parameters are resumed. Therefore, if something is going wrong after the blackout period, an alert will be raised and you won't miss any critical problem.

Blackout KM for PATROL

In order to use our Blackout KM, you need to purchase a license of "Blackout KM for PATROL".

** "Per CPU" means for each physical processor of each computer monitored with one of these products.

Perpetual Licence

In order to monitor setup blackouts period on a monitored system, you need a license for every computer on which the Blackout KM is running. The standard license is a perpetual license (no time limit) whose price is the total number of physical processors (CPUs) of the computers the Blackout KM is running on multiplied by the per-CPU license fee. The perpetual license includes a free one-year warranty and gives you access to our support, patches, updates and even new versions of the product. An additional maintenance fee is required if you wish to extend this period. Because of the very low license price, this maintenance fee is typically priced at 40% of the license price per year.

Term Licence (Rental)

The term licensing allows you to purchase a time-limited Blackout KM license which expires at a chosen date. The maintenance services are included in the license fee: thus the warranty and additional maintenance fee don't apply. Please contact us, BMC Software, or your reseller for more information about term license purchasing.

Maintenance Services

Trial period

After downloading Blackout KM from our Web site or from the BMC Software Web site, you can install it and use it for 30 days. The products will run without any license key during this period, and all of the features will be enabled. During the trial period you can ask our support team for technical information or help regarding the installation of the product.

Warranty

You can purchase maintenance in order to have access to our support, patches, updates and new versions of Blackout KM. To purchase maintenance, please contact BMC Software or your reseller if you purchased licenses from them, or contact Sentry Software if you purchased your licenses directly from us.

The Blackout KM is a BMC Software MarketZone Single Sale product. This means that you can buy it directly from BMC Software, but the Sentry Software License Agreement only will apply to your purchase, and the support will be provided by Sentry Software. You can get in touch with your regular BMC Software sales representative if you want a quotation for the Blackout KM. Note: If you want the benefit of additional years of maintenance, then you will need to contact Sentry Software directly.

From a BMC Software reseller

If you usually purchase PATROL products from a BMC Software reseller, you can also ask your regular reseller for a quotation for the Blackout KM. Again, only the Sentry Software License Agreement will apply to your purchase, and the support will be provided directly by Sentry Software.
