IBM DS6000, DS8000 Series KM for PATROL provides monitoring and reporting capabilities that fully integrates with the BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management environment allowing SAN administrators to manage their IBM storage assets from centralized management platform. IBM DS6000, DS8000 Series KM for PATROL discovers and monitors all the software aspects of the array: overall capacity, spare disks, data traffic, oversubscription, etc.

How it Works

IBM DS6000, DS8000 Series KM for PATROL

IBM DS6000, DS8000 Series KM for PATROL works in conjunction with Hardware Sentry KM for PATROL. Hardware Sentry KM discovers and monitors all the hardware aspects of the IBM disk array: disks, RAIDs, controllers, temperature sensors, fans, power supplies, Ethernet cards, fiber ports, etc.

IBM DS6000, DS8000 Series KM for PATROL discovers and monitors all the software aspects of the filer: size, consumed and subscribed capacity, data traffic, etc. IBM DS6000, DS8000 Series KM for PATROL requires the installation of IBM System Storage DS Storage Manager.

  • To fully monitor IBM DS6000 and IBM DS8000 disk systems, you are required to install IBM DS Storage Manager. IBM Storage Manager needs to be installed on any server that has network access to the DS6000 and/or DS8000 Management Card.

The "Storage Monitoring" license gives you the right to use both "Hardware Sentry KM for PATROL" and "IBM DS6000, DS8000 Series KM for PATROL" to monitor one IBM DS.
