Automatic ErrorCount Parameters Reset |
ErrorCount parameter (as in the physical disk and memory classes) keep increasing as new errors are encountered. When no error occurs, the ErrorCount parameter remains at zero. When one error occurs, the ErrorCount parameter is increased to 1 (one), and retains this value until it is acknowledged by an operator. When another error occurs, the ErrorCount parameter is automatically increased to 2 (two), and again, it retains this value until it is acknowledged by an operator. The DeviceNotReadyErrorCount, MediaErrorCount, NoDeviceErrorCount, HardErrorCount, IllegalRequestErrorCount, RecoverableErrorCount, and TransportErrorCount parameters provide detailed information about the type of errors encountered on the physical disks. To reset the ErrorCount parameters of a specific device, an operator must manually activate the Acknowledge ErrorCount Alerts and Reset command via the console menu (right-click the device icon> KM Commands > KM Settings > Acknowledge ErrorCount Alerts and Reset). This mechanism makes sure that an operator or an administrator is aware of the encountered error. However, since the manual acknowledgment of each error can rapidly become time consuming, Hardware Sentry KM can be configured to automatically acknowledge an alert on the ErrorCount parameters and reset it to zero after a specified period of time. To set the automatic ErrorCount parameters reset for a specific device, right-click the Hardware icon > KM Commands > KM Settings > Automatic ErrorCount Reset:
Select the period of time after which you want the KM to automatically reset the ErrorCount parameter and click OK.
