Scheduling Hardware Inventory Reports

Administrators can schedule automated generation of hardware inventory reports for the localhost and/or any or all remote hosts monitored through it. The information retrieved as a text file can then be used by inventory tools. Because the information is up-to-date, administrators can easily find out if problems exist.

To schedule a hardware inventory report:.

1. Right-click the Hardware icon > KM Commands > Reporting > Schedule Hardware Inventory. The Hardware Inventory Scheduling wizard appears:

The next panel asks you to select the hosts and to schedule the report:

Depending on the schedule selected, the following panels will appear:

Every hour: No additional settings required. The wizard displays the panel for macros and destination folder (see step 4.).

Every day at a specific time: Indicate the time at which the report is to be generated and click Next.

Every week at a specific time and day: Specify the time and the days you want the report generated and click Next.

Every month at a specific time and day: Indicate the day of each month and the time at which the report is to be generated and click Next.

Indicate where the report is to be saved and specify its filename:

Save the Hardware Inventory in the following folder: Enter the file path

Use the following template for the Hardware Inventory filename: Indicate the path and folder where the report is to be saved and its filename. Available macros are listed in the Alert Actions Macro Variables section. Using the given macros will enable you to have reports that are properly named with the hostname and time the reports are generated.

3.A confirmation is finally displayed:

Click Finish. The report will be automatically generated as per the specifications indicated.

You can also generate an Instant Hardware Inventory report at any time for the whole managed system or for any individual component.
